Илья Ефимович писал его портрет и посвятил ему картину «Хирург Е.В.Павлов на операции». Картина эта возникла не случайно. Ученица Репина, М.В. Веревкина, сломала руку и лечилась в клинике Павлова. Репин навещал свою больную ученицу. Кроме того, в больнице под наблюдением Павлова одно время находилась жена Ильи Ефимовича, Вера Алексеевна. Она болела печенью, и ей предстояла операция. (воспоминания о Репине) |
