Der Gemeinde ist mit Urkunde des Regierungspräsidenten in Düsseldorf vom 21. Dezember 1977 erneut das Recht zur Führung eines Wappens verliehen worden. Das Wappen entwickelt das des Amtes Schermbeck (Lilienbalken und Wellenbalken) weiter; es geht auf ein Ortssiegel von 1500 zurück, in dem die Wellen auf den Ortsnamen Bach (-beck) hinweisen.English: „Gules, an escutcheon Argent, covered with a tri-traced escarbuncle Or, above a pending fess de fleur-de-lis Or; the terrace in base wavy Argent charged with three fesses wavy vert.
The arms were granted in 1968 and again on December 21, 1977. The upper part shows the arms of the counts of Kleve, and thus represents the fact that Adolf VI of Kleve granted several rights in 1430. The lower part shows a canting element, a Back or Beck (stream). The additions of 1974 did not change the arms.“ |
