An actuator (not shown) induces a vibration of the tubes. (In this animation, the vibration is shown in slow motion.) The two parallel tubes are counter-vibrating, to make the measuring device less sensitive to outside vibrations. A flow meter that uses the Coriolis effect for its operating principle is also called a Coriolis flow meter.
